Not to be missed – MEŠTROVIĆ PLATE AT DUJKIN DVOR

An exclusive gourmet experience within the Festival Taste the Mediterranean: you will have the possibility to taste the dishes that the famous artist enjoyed in his home at Dujkin Dvor tavern, from October 25 until November 3, 2024.

This is a joint project of the Konoba Dujkin dvor and the Ivan Meštrović Museum in Split, that takes place as part of the Festival “Taste the Mediterranean”. It is inspired by the “Meštrović Family’s Menu”, a cooking booklet published by the Ivan Meštrović Museum that presents the eating habits of the family. The most interesting recipes were selected and the weekly menu that Meštrović’s wife Olga put together for her family was published. This was the incentive to give to this topic more attention, and bring the gastronomic habits of one of greatest lovers of Split to its citizens and guests.

Konoba Dujkin dvor started promoting the cultural heritage of the neighbourhood of Velo Varoš, one of the oldest parts of Split, several years ago through its gastronomic offer and the organisation of walking tours. “Promoting cultural heritage through gastronomy has always been the basic vision of our tavern, in order to make aware our guests and locals of how important is the gathering around the table in our culture. The “Meštrović Family Menu” appeared as a perfect opportunity to revive the praiseworthy work of Meštrović and serve it to our fellow citizens and guests – on a plate”.

The gastronomic event “Meštrović’s pjat kod Dujke” (Meštrović plate at Dujkin Dvor) starts on October 25 and lasts until November 3, 2024. In that period, with two weekends included, guests will be able to choose one of the three-course menus (fish – meat – vegetarian) at promotional prices. We will cook homemade, Mediterranean dishes, seasoned with a pinch of Austrian influence, with which Olga enriched the Dalmatian recipes.In the thematic week, the Museum will provide tours guided by experts of the Meštrović public monuments with a special emphasis on Meštrović’s permanent connection to Split.With this project, the tavern Dujkin dvor continues to promote the local cultural heritage through its kitchen while theMuseum of Ivan Meštrovićopens to the public in a particularly delicious way. It will be possible to buy the cooking booklet “Meštrović Family’s menu” in theDujkin Dvortavern, and the Museum and the tavern are preparing additional surprises for their guests.
