Biography
Tourism has always been at the centre of interest and the professional activity of Tonči Glavina, the new Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Croatia. Before being appointed to this important political position, he was for 7 years the State secretary in the same Ministry and before that the director and the member of the Management Board of Eklat, in Split, a company for the management of tourist destinations specialized in children’s and youth tourism. From 2014 to 2017, he was the director of the Klis Business Incubator.
Tonči Glavina was educated in the USA where he obtained the MBA degree at the Wesley College in Dover, Delaware. The connection with the USA is still present in his career, and he is a member of the Board of the Croatian-American Association (CAA), a political organization that lobbies for Croatian interests in the US Congress and the Senate. He is the vice president of the Association of Entrepreneurs and Craftsmen of the HDZ and a member of the Presidency of the HDZ County Board of Split-Dalmatia County. Since coming to the head of the Ministry, he has been dealing with the pressing problems of Croatian tourism.
In addition to all this demanding functions, Tonči Glavina is also a true lover of gastronomy who has been following the work of the Festival Taste the Mediterranean for years.
