Biography
Talia Richard-Carvajal grew up in both the United States, in California and Texas, and in England. Her mother is Spanish and her father, American, and thus she has always lived at a cultural crossroad.
Coming from a family of lawyers, she began on an academic path and studied English Literature at the University of Cambridge before pursuing her lifelong love of baking. She studied as a Pastry Chef at Le Cordon Bleu London and trained at some of the best restaurants in the UK, including St. John and Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons. She spent a considerable time in the Pastry Kitchen at 5 * Claridges’ Hotel in London, working on everything from banquets to dinner service and afternoon tea.
She moved to Copenhagen in 2018 and helped open Hart Bageri, now one of the most influential bakeries in the world. Talia runs Hart as COO and Creative Director. Talia is simultaneously running a project very close to her heart. A new pastry shop in Cartagena, that will use super high quality pastry to showcase all of the extraordinary and unique fruits of Colombia’s, recently inaccessible, post-conflict zones.
