Biography
Tač is the nickname of her husband Tihomir, but Tač is also the suffix of the slang term for restaurant (restač). Tač is also the Croatian pronunciation of the English word touch, which suggests that with her expert touch chef Vesna enriches every dish, even when prepared by one of her assistants.
Vesna Miletić, the chef of the iconic Zagreb restaurant Tač, started her gastronomic adventure in 1985. When she opened the first restaurant in Opatija after graduating from the Faculty of Political Sciences! Fifteen years later, she and her husband opened the Zagreb restaurant, and from the first day it was the place where you eat “like at home”, which means good and high quality food, in the ambiance of a rustic dining room. This is exactly the way that Vesna built her culinary story. Although she is closest to Istrian and Mediterranean cuisine, she also draws inspiration from the traditional flavours of other Croatian regions.
Tač is a family business in the true sense of the word, and the homely atmosphere is also created by the proximity of the small garden, where they grow old varieties of vegetables. Tač is a warm, cozy restaurant that Vesna has recently given a new touch of discreet elegance, with many refined but unobtrusive details, just as she has given her seemingly simple home-cooked dishes a touch of perfect flavours.
