Ivona Cokarić
Trattoria Tinel · Split · Croatia

Biography
In Dalmatian, tinel means a living room, a room where family members and friends gather to spend nice moments together, usually around the table. This is exactly the kind of warm atmosphere that Ivona Cokarić created in her Trattoria Tinel, in Split’s Šperun, not far from the old fishing harbour Matejuška.
“I wanted our guests to feel good, whether they were alone or in company, regardless of whether they came for a quick bite or for a family celebration”. And indeed, in a pleasant space with checkered red and white tablecloths, you will relax as if you have come to a family home and you will be able to enjoy their kitchen.
Chef Ivona prepares simple Mediterranean dishes that win over all guests who return regularly. Like most great chefs, inherited her love for cooking from her mother first and then from her mother-in-law. This is how she learned the recipes of the traditional Dalmatian dishes. She uses only seasonal, local, fresh ingredients, and each of her dishes exudes the true flavours and aromas of Dalmatia.
