Biography
One of the most famous Moroccan chefs, Issam Rhachi was born in 1982 in Marrakesh, a city with a great gastronomic reputation. Since his early childhood, he discovered the richness of flavours in the dishes that were prepared in his birth house during every family celebration. He decided to train as a chef and began an internship at Le Méridien hotel chain. He soon moved to the Naoura group, which opened the first brasserie Fouquet’s outside of France.
By combining Moroccan tradition and French technique, the talented young chef contributed to the rise of Fouquet’s, which became one of the best restaurants in Morocco. A rising culinary star, chef Rhachi was selected as one of the 10 best chefs of Morocco in the Moroccan Bocuse d’Or. He belongs to the new generation of chefs who were educated in Morocco and secured a high reputation for their country on the international gastronomic scene.
The chef perfected his culinary technique during numerous exchanges and trainings in top French restaurants and hotels. There he worked alongside the best chefs like Jean-Yves Leuranger and Benoit Pépin, Executive Chef at the Frères Pourcel, whose restaurant in Montpellier had 3 Michelin ***. With the Moroccan team, chef Issam won a gold medal at the Dubai Hospitality World Cup in 2014. He spent a short time as the Director of the kitchen at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Marrakech before returning to the Hotel & Ryads Barrière le Naoura hotel group in 2016. Soon after, he won the Gault&Millau Trophy for the Great Chef of Tomorrow. Today he is the Executive Chef at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Marrakech.
